AAUA’ll Guarantee Seamless Academic Session – Dean of Students

The Dean of Student Affairs, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, Prof. Francis Gbore, has affirmed the readiness of the Institution to ensure that the 2017/2018 academic session runs seamlessly, including hitch-free registration for all students.
Prof. Gbore gave this assurance while speaking during an interview programme on Radio AAUA 90.3 FM last week. He said the University would leave no stone unturned in making the stay of students memorable and rewarding during the new session.
Prof. Gbore said, “The University has mapped out fine plans towards effective handling of whatever complaints that might arise from the process of screening and other related registration exercise. The University ICT Unit has put in place machinery that would make the online processes as stress free as possible, just as it’s also on the alert to handle whatever bottlenecks that might be encountered.
“We have officers, both at the Student Affairs Division and the ICT Unit who attend promptly to sundry issues that might arise either from technical challenges, impatience or ignorance.”
The Dean added that the Institution was not resting on its oars in making certain that it continues to live its mandate to uphold excellence and best practices in all facets.
The President of the Student Union, Mr. Olawale Ijanusi, in a chat with the University’s Information Unit, also shared optimism to the effect that the new academic session would run smoothly.
“As a student body, we believe that the stakeholders have worked out good strategies and plans that would make the University calendar run smoothly. We hereby welcome our new and returning students back on Campus and wish them successes on every side”, Ijanusi said.

Over 1,000 Students Have Benefited from AAUA Work-Study Scheme – Director

The far-reaching upshots of the Student Work-Study Scheme, SWSS, of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, on the participants have once again been stressed.
The Director of the Scheme, Dr. (Mrs.) Olubunmi Omoniyi, affirmed this during an interview in her office, saying over 1,000 students have benefited from the scheme.
The SWSS, which took off in July 2010, allows willing students to work for two hours daily and receive a monthly stipend to support themselves financially while studying in the University.
The Director said, “Over 1,000 Students have benefited from the scheme. The turnout of applicants for the scheme at every session has been very amazing. For this semester, we have shortlisted about 100 students for the scheme. This number may increase depending on the availability of funds. The applicants are very enthusiastic about the scheme.”
Dr. (Mrs.) Omoniyi, who acknowledged the efforts of her predecessors, Dr. (Mrs.) Iyabo Omoniyi, and Dr. Adejompo Fagbohunka, at sustaining the scheme, said, “I have approached some philanthropists and well-to-do individuals in the society who could be helpful in terms financial assistance such that the scheme would be able to accommodate more students. We are hoping that we would get positive feedbacks from those we have approached.”

‘AAUA, Committed to Timely, Effective Results’ Processing’

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, last week, reiterated commitment to timely, secured and effective processing of Students results.
Dr. Benson Igboin, Chairman, Committee on Students Results Computation with AVERS Software, said this during a training programme on the use of AVERS Software for results computation and processing organized for Deans, Directors of Centres, Heads of Department, Examination Officers and Secretaries.
According to the Chairman, “Ajasin University places high premium on Students Results and it’s committed to improving on its timely processing, security and efficiency. It’s in this spirit that the University has organized training on effective use of AVERS Software to ensure that students results are computed automatically.
“With the new system, results computation is easier and faster. Once results are imputed, the system computes automatically and students can have access to their results.
Dr. Igboin, who commended the University Management for organising the training, said the introduction of AVERS Software would reduce cost and save time.
He said, “With this new system, we are going to save cost of producing papers here and there and we are also going to save enough time. Results processing and accessing would be more effective, and cases of missing results would become nonexistent.

AAUA SSANU CMS Elects New Officers

Members of the Cooperative Multipurpose Society, CMS, of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, on Wednesday, last week, elected new executives that would administer the affairs of the society for two years.
The results of the election announced by the Chairman of the Election Committee, Engr. John Akinrinmade, indicated that Mr. Babatope Fagbolagun, Mr. Lanre Kola-Ajibade, and Mrs. Morenike Lawal emerged unopposed as President, Treasurer, and Ex-Officio, respectively having garnered 266, 261 and 251 votes, in that order.
The position of Vice President was keenly contested as Mrs. Evelyn Yeiya earned 143 votes to edge out Mr. Atiba Cosmas Awolowo who had 123 votes.
For the position of Financial Secretary, Mr. Wilson Adepiti polled 163 votes to defeat Mr. Ambrose Ayeni who got 101 votes.
Mr. ‘Seyi Oluwalade emerged the General Secretary, polling 167 votes to humble his opponent, Mr. Tunde Asokeji, who earned 97 votes.
In a statement after the election, the president-elect, Mr. Fagbolagun, on behalf of other executives, thanked all the members of the society for giving the officers-elect their mandate, promising that it would be used for the uplift and pride of the society.
Mr. Fagbolagun also thanked all contestants “for their maturity and understanding during and after the election. We are all winners!”
He appreciated all the members of the Election Committee and the security personnel for a job well-done.
