The University Library is the intellectual hub of the University, dedicated to supporting teaching, learning, research, and community service through the provision of quality information resources, modern library services, and an enabling environment for academic excellence.

As the custodian of the University's scholarly collections and knowledge resources, the Library provides access to an extensive range of print and electronic materials, including books, journals, theses, dissertations, databases, digital repositories, and other information resources that meet the academic and research needs of students, staff, and researchers.

Strategically positioned to serve the University's diverse academic community, the Library operates through professionally managed divisions and specialized units committed to delivering innovative, user-centred, and technology-driven information services. Our experienced librarians and support staff continually strive to ensure that users have timely access to reliable information in both physical and digital formats.

Our Structure

STRUCTURE OF THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

The University Library is the academic information centre of the University and is headed by the University Librarian, who is responsible for the overall administration, development, and coordination of library services. The Library operates through a well-defined administrative structure comprising professional librarians, technical staff, and support personnel dedicated to delivering quality information services.

OFFICE OF THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN

The University Librarian is the Chief Administrative and Professional Officer of the University Library and is responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of all library services. The Office of the University Librarian:

• Provides strategic leadership for the development and administration of the University Library.
• Develops policies for the acquisition, organization, preservation, and dissemination of information resources.
• Coordinates library services across all Faculty, Departmental, College, and Special Libraries.
• Oversees the acquisition of books, journals, electronic databases, and other scholarly resources.
• Promotes teaching, learning, research, and innovation through quality information services.
• Supervises library automation, digital library initiatives, and the Institutional Repository.
• Coordinates information literacy programmes and user education for students and staff.
• Collaborates with national and international library organizations, research institutions, and development partners.
• Ensures the preservation of the University's scholarly output and special collections.
• Advises the University Management on matters relating to library development, information management, and research support.

Our Roles

Readers' Services Division

The Readers' Services Division is the frontline service unit of the University Library. It is responsible for providing library users with access to information resources, reference services, circulation services, and user support. The Division ensures that students, staff, researchers, and visitors enjoy quality library services in a conducive learning environment.
