WELCOME MESSAGE
Welcome to the Centre for Diploma and Pre-degree Studies (CDPDS), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba–Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, Nigeria. In AAUA, our vision is, “moving manpower development in the direction of self-apprenticeship, research, knowledge, character, and service to humanity”. According to the latest Webometric Ranking, the University is currently the Best State University in Nigeria. It is our mission in CDPDS to collaborate with the University Management in achieving its vision of being among the foremost 21st Century Universities globally.
The objective of Pre-degree programme includes, among others, the provision of a course of study which prepares candidates through advanced level training, for entry into undergraduate studies at 100 level. Adekunle Ajasin University has adopted the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) syllabus for the teaching and training of all Pre-degree candidates and the programme lasts for one academic session. The session is divided into two academic semesters and candidates shall be examined through computer-based tests at the end of each semester. Each candidate who successfully completes the programme, after adequate counseling, will choose from the degree programmes available within the University.
It must be emphasized that admission into 100 level through Pre-degree is not automatic. To be eligible for consideration for admission into the University, all Pre-degree candidates are required to take the UTME and obtain a minimum score as may be prescribed by the University and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The good news for all our prospective candidates is that the University Management and Senate of AAUA are usually magnanimous to offer all candidates who meet the minimum requirements for admission into the University. In addition, special considerations are usually given to all qualified Pre-degree candidates in the choice of courses based on performance at the placement examination.
Our admission requirements involves a minimum of five (5) Credit passes at SSCE (NECO and/or WAEC) and NABTEB obtained at not more than two sittings which must include Mathematics and English Language for all courses and any other three subjects in the relevant field. As part of our flexibility, candidates who are awaiting results are also qualified for consideration on condition that their results would be ready before the completion of the admission process.
As part of our efforts to ensure smooth academic session and avoid disruption of academic programme, the University Management resolved to recruit qualified non-regular staff as lecturers for the programme. The Centre has a track record of producing very good candidates with very high scores in UTME and excellent grades as undergraduate students.
Wishing all our prospective Pre-degree candidates success in their academic pursuits.
Isaac A. Ololade (Ph.D)
