I heartily welcome you to the Faculty of Education, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. It is one of the five Faculties in the University, the others being Faculty of Artss, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Social and Management Sciences. The Faculty of Education currently has five Departments, viz., Arts Education, Educational Management, Guidance and Counseling, Science and Technical Education and Social Science Education. As of today, the Faculty has 2133 students in the regular undergraduate degree programmes, 4,184 students in the Sandwich Degree programme, 52 in the Postgraduate Diploma programme, and 35 students in the postgraduate degree programmes. It has a staff strength of 59 teaching staff and 27 non-teaching staff.
The Faculty runs undergraduate degree programmes in Arts, Science and Social Sciences. Plans are at an advanced stage to introduce postgraduate degree programmes in the Social Sciences. The main objective of these programmes is to train and produce dedicated, resourceful, and committed teachers and leaders that are determined to make education in Nigeria a true catalyst for the much needed rapid transformation and development of the country. Thousands of our former students in the sandwich degree programme are now out in the nation, working devotedly and encouragingly to achieve this objective. The Faculty regularly engages in basic research focused on the many complex and multidimensional issues in education, whose findings have encouragingly contributed to efforts at making education in Nigeria a true agent of change in the nation’s quest for responsible leadership in Governance.
