HOD‘S WELCOME SPEECH

                                     Welcome to Science Education Department

The Department of Science Education (SE) is an offshoot of the erstwhile Science and Technical Education (STE) Department, of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. The emerged Science Education Department currently houses six undergraduate academic programmes, namely; B.Sc.Ed.(Biology), B.Sc.Ed. (Chemistry), B.Sc. Ed. (Computer Science), B.Sc. Ed. (Integrated Science), B.Sc. Ed. (Mathematics) and B.Sc. Ed. (Physics). NUC has granted full accreditation status to all the six programmes.  There are adequate human and non human resources for the development of state of art graduates in the aforementioned programmes. Our graduates are very employable and are seasoned subject based entrepreneur.

The Department has a Science Education Laboratory where Biology Education, Chemistry Education and Physics Education teachers-in-training are taught the methodology of their fields. The Computer Education and Mathematics Education student-teachers are also given methodology instructions in their specialized laboratory. Similarly, the integrated Science Education teachers-in-training are adequately taught their own methodology in the special laboratory for Integrated Science, now (Basic Science and Technology).

Based on the quality of manpower and resources available in the Department, our undergraduates are constantly improving in their academic records. Some of them had been adjudged as best graduating students, not only among all the departments in the entire Faculty of Education but also among all the faculties in the whole University. The evidence of dignity and hard work put into place by our esteemed academic staff is  revealed from the incessant feedback that we daily receive from the employers of our graduates. Many of our graduates are also employers of labour.

The Department is endowed with respected, committed, enthusiastic, motivated and highly qualified academic and non teaching staff. For higher degree programmes, the Department houses Master in Education Degree (M. Ed.) as well as Doctor of Philisophy Degree (Ph.D) in Science Education.
