HOD's Welcome Message

The department of Physics and Electronics is one of the oldest departments in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Nigeria. It had been existing by the time the University, originally named Ondo State University, relocated to Akungba from Ado-Ekiti in 1999.

The department offers courses in Physics and Electronics to our regular students and service courses in Physics to students in many departments in the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Agriculture, and also in two institutes (IPTP AND IOE) in the University. The department provides the basic foundation courses which they need. Apart from the undergraduate programme, the department also offers MSc and PhD programmes. I am eagerly looking forward to your coming to undertake your postgraduate programme in this department in the nearest foreseeable future.

The undergraduate programme is designed to expose students to both basic and applied courses as well as laboratories and industrial training to enable them stand, side by side with shoulders high, with their colleagues from elsewhere and satisfy the manpower needs in the public and industrial sectors of the economy.

The department has continued to play its role in the task of training competent physicists and other related experts for national manpower needs and technological development of the country. In fact, I feel proud to say that many of our products are occupying important positions in the country today. Many of them are presently undergoing their MSc and PhD programmes in this country and also overseas. I sincerely believe in my heart that if you work hard, you will soon join these groups.

My gratitude goes to the foundation staff of this department and I appreciate their effort in putting the department on a sound footing which we are building upon today.

I wish you a busy session.
