Welcome to the University and the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology. This department was one of the departments in the Faculty of Science that relocated from the former Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti in 1999. It was then known as Department of Botany.
That name was changed to the present one in response to recent developments in the field of Plant Science as well as to the need to offer our students training that is relevant to the 21st Century.
In spite of the challenges of biotechnological research in a country like Nigeria, the department has striven to
collaborate with relevant agencies and research institutes to give our products adequate exposure. With a pool of highly qualified, experienced, and dynamic academic staff, students are assured of sound academic training both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The all-round development of our students is of utmost importance to us, and we accomplish it by encouraging the development of their inherent skills and latent potentials through robust and healthy interaction with teaching staff.
